FARM FENCING · SPRINGDALE & NORTHWEST ARKANSAS

Buckley rail, woven wire and farm gates for Northwest Arkansas pasture, corrals and acreage

Field and pasture fence, round rail and board, horse corrals and farm gates, matched to your animals and your ground by the crew at Thomas Fence in Springdale since 1993.

Chapter 01

What goes wrong when the fence does not match the animal

A farm fence is sized to what stands behind it. High-tensile wire holds cattle across open pasture. It is the wrong answer for a horse paddock, and Thomas Fence recommends against barbed wire anywhere horses are kept because of the injury risk. A horse needs a fence it can see, which is why non-climb woven wire with a top board or rail is the usual fix. The animal reads it as a wall and does not catch a leg in the mesh.

Wood rail has its own weakness. It splinters and it takes impact badly, which is exactly the wrong trait around horses. That is why Thomas Fence is an Authorized Buckley Fence Dealer. Buckley is a high-strength polymer rail that resists splintering and impact damage, built in 2, 3 and 4 rail, with optional wire mesh behind the rails when smaller animals share the lot.

How we set a pasture line

The estimator walks the property and talks through the livestock, the acreage and the terrain before anything is priced. Field and pasture runs go in as woven wire, high-tensile wire or T-post lines suited to Northwest Arkansas ground. Round rail and board carry the horse properties and mixed livestock operations, and horse corrals are built with properly set posts and safe rail heights. The size of the fence follows the animals and the land, not a one-size spec.

Once the contract is signed, the job is typically on the schedule within 1 to 3 weeks. Thomas Fence calls 811 on every job before any digging, and state law builds in a 2 full business day utility locate window before posts can be set. The crew checks in with you before they arrive.

Gates are part of the line, not an afterthought. Farm gates go in as pipe, tube or panel styles, from the field fence near Decatur to the custom double gate across a gravel drive in Garfield. Where no electrical service reaches the road, a solar powered operator can open the gate for you, installed by a CGAT-certified gate technician.

Chapter 03

What you have after the last post is set

Every farm fence installation carries a written 1-year workmanship warranty. The wire, rail and hardware come from reputable agricultural suppliers, and many of those products carry their own manufacturer warranties on top of ours.

No deposit is asked on standard farm jobs. Special-order materials are the exception, and Thomas Fence prefers to wait until the work is done before requesting payment. The crews work out of Springdale and cover the farms, ranches and rural lots from Cave Springs and Hindsville to Bentonville, Garfield and Decatur.

Farm fence questions, answered

Horses need a fence they can see clearly and cannot get hurt on. Non-climb woven wire with a top board or rail is the most common answer, because horses read it as a barrier and do not catch a leg in the mesh. Board fencing in 2 or 3 rails suits smaller paddocks and arenas. Thomas Fence recommends against barbed wire for horse enclosures because of the injury risk.

Buckley is a high-strength polymer rail system used on horse properties and livestock fencing. The rail resists splintering and impact damage, which wood rail does not. Thomas Fence is an authorized Buckley Fence dealer and installer, and builds it in 2, 3 and 4 rail. Wire mesh can be added behind the rails to hold smaller animals, and your estimator can show you the mesh options at the estimate.

Yes. Farm gates go in as pipe, tube or panel styles. Gate automation is available for agricultural work too, including solar powered operators where no electrical service reaches the road. The crew builds the fence and hangs the gate as one job.

Yes. Jobs run from a small animal run behind the house to a multi-acre ranch perimeter. Estimates are built on linear footage and terrain, and the crews are equipped for large rural work. How long the install takes depends on the footage and the site.

No deposit is required on standard farm fence installations. Special-order materials are the exception. Thomas Fence prefers to wait until the work is complete before asking for payment.
