RAILINGS · SPRINGDALE & NORTHWEST ARKANSAS
Metal railings and handrails, anchored to last across Northwest Arkansas
Porch, stair, deck, ramp and commercial entryway railings, installed by the crew that builds our fences and gates.
Chapter 01
What fails a railing before it ever gets used
A railing is a safety device first and a design choice second. It fails when it is fastened to a surface that cannot hold it, when the posts are not set deep enough for the load, or when it misses the height and grip the code calls for. Looks do not matter if someone leans on it and it gives.
That is why Thomas Fence anchors steel handrails into concrete or masonry, sets posts in concrete where the job requires it, and checks every connection before the crew leaves. Commercial railings are built to ADA requirements and local code, with attention to grip, height and return. Deck railings are built to the local requirements for height and load.
Our railing work follows the same standards as our fence and gate installations: proper post setting, correct concrete work and a clean finish that holds up over time.

Black horizontal bar steel railing along a landscaped backyard in Rogers
Porch, stair, ramp, deck and commercial entry
We install front and back porch railings, from simple pipe rail to decorative balusters, plus single and double handrails for residential steps and commercial stairways. We also build deck railings, ramp railings and ADA-compliant railings for retail locations, schools and public buildings. From Rogers and Bentonville to Fayetteville and Springdale, most residential railings come out of one day on site.
Not every run is a straight line. Curved sections, multi-level railings and special post spacing are measured on site and fabricated to fit the conditions. We have done steel and aluminum work for a trail ramp in Bentonville, stone landscape steps in Rogers, and galvanized pipe handrails at a school in Pea Ridge.
The first step is a site visit. We measure the run, check the mounting surface and confirm post placement, then write up the materials, dimensions and timeline. Standard installations need no deposit, though custom fabricated railings and special-order materials may.
Chapter 03
Permits, existing steps and the warranty
Permit rules depend on the city and the project. Commercial railings and railings on new construction almost always need one. For existing residential railings it varies by municipality. The customer is responsible for obtaining permits, and we advise on local requirements and help with the documentation.
We install on existing porches, steps and decks as well as new construction. Every railing carries a written 1-year workmanship warranty, and if something is not right with our work, we come back and fix it. Call (479) 636-4732 for a free estimate.
